Bolton Carers Support

Are you looking after someone?  Do you care for a family member, friend or neighbour who is elderly, ill or who has a disability?  Who looks after you?

The Oaks Family Practice is working with Bolton Carers Support to ensure that all carers registered at this practice can receive the support and information they need.  To find out more, please ask to speak to our Practice Carers Lead, Sister Denise Beckett.

Bolton Carers Support is an independent registered charity, which provides information and support and signposts carers to local services that may be able to help.  For more information about Bolton Carers Support telephone 01204 363056 (9.30 - 4.30 Monday to Thursday) or visit www.boltoncarersupport.org.uk

Time off from caring.

We have regular carers outings which provide carers with 4-5 hours break.  We also offer outings for carers to attend with the person they care for.

Training, workshops and taster sessions.

We hold talks, workshops and courses on a range of topics - often with a focus on supporting physical and mental well being and to encourage carers to take up health activities.

Extra Support for older carers.

Carers over the age of 65 may need additional support as their own health may be poor at a time when their caring responsibilities are increasing. In recognition of this, we offer a time-limited and focused home visiting service to assist older carers to access services and a telephone befriending scheme to help reduce the sense of isolation experienced by many carers.
